A festival rooted in the farms of the Ardèche

Organised by the Confédération paysanne de l’Ardèche* and ADDEAR 07, the festival is designed to provide an opportunity for the farming world and the general public to exchange views on small-scale farming, food quality and the preservation of the living world. The screenings are free of charge and are systematically followed by discussions and a “pot paysan” with farm produce, to extend the discussions in a convivial atmosphere.

Themes at the heart of the debates

The films in the programme cover a wide range of subjects, from the social security of food in Manger pour vivre (Eat to Live) to the issue of pesticides in Secrets toxiques (Toxic Secrets), not forgetting the transfer of farms and the impact of climate change on water and soil. Several documentaries also look at livestock farming models, pastoralism and the careers of farmers involved in organic farming and food relocation.

15 screenings

A total of fifteen screenings will take place across the Ardèche, each co-organised with local organisations (cinemas, MJCs, social centres, citizens’ groups). The screenings run from Friday 16 January in Les Vans with Manger pour vivre to Sunday 25 January in Ruoms and Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux, where Éleveurs d’horizon and Où vont les mésanges la nuit? will be screened.

Meetings with directors and speakers

A number of screenings are accompanied by meetings with the filmmakers, such as Leurs champs du cœur in Privas, or with researchers, agronomists, elected representatives and farmers, notably on water management, soil regeneration or the crisis in organic farming. The presence of spokespersons from the Confédération paysanne and the women farmers in the film means that the debates are grounded in real-life experience.

Practical information

The screenings take place mainly in the late afternoon or evening, in cinemas, village halls or cultural venues, with free admission.
