How to get to the Ardèche by road

The D86 departmental road?

Route nationale 86 until 2005 (abbreviated to N86), the D86 departmental road is a trunk road that crosses the Ardèche from north to south, between the departments of the Loire and the Gard.

Stretching some 138 kilometres between the department’s northern and southern boundaries, from the rue d’Arcoules in Limony to the Bourdelet bridge over the River Ardèche, this is the only road that links the department from one end to the other, running along the right bank of the River Rhône*.

It runs parallel to the N7 trunk road on the other side of the Rhône in the Drôme.
