Aquavaure in Annonay?
From the Galleliaure* pool built in 1948 on the River Cance to Aquavaure, 70 years of aquatic and swimming tradition have been preserved in Annonay and throughout the northern Ardèche.
Opening in 2019 just next to the Vaure indoor swimming pool, which dates back to 1975 and is now closed, the conurbation’s aquatic centre is a fun, sports and wellness area on the heights of the town next to Parc Déomas*.
At the heart of the Annonay Rhône Agglo urban community, the Aquavaure aquatic centre is one of the most modern and complete facilities in the area. Designed to welcome young and old alike, it offers the ideal setting for swimming, leisure and relaxation all year round, indoors and out.
A multi-faceted aquatic centre
Aquavaure has two indoor pools, measuring 15 and 25 metres respectively, suitable for both experienced swimmers and families wanting to have fun in complete safety. There’s also a fun pool, a paddling pool for toddlers and a balneotherapy area.
For those looking for a moment of relaxation, the centre offers a balneotherapy pool, sauna and steam room, as well as an herbal tea room to prolong your sense of well-being.
The programme includes a full range of play, relaxation and sports facilities for all residents. The indoor and covered sections include
- 2 pools, one mixed for learning and play, one for swimming with six lanes
- A paddling pool for toddlers to enjoy
- A wellness area with a balneotherapy pool, steam room and sauna.
In summer, the centre opens onto a vast outdoor area. Visitors can enjoy an outdoor leisure pool with a counter-current river, a 35-metre-long 4-lane pentagliss for thrills and spills, and a host of water games designed to entertain children. A sunbathing lawn with deckchairs and parasols invites you to relax, while a snack bar serves light meals on site.
To sum up, compared with the old swimming pool, the new outdoor layout offers :
- A pentagliss with four lanes and a pool
- A play area with water jets
- A pool with current for relaxing and refreshing
- A lawn for a beach with a mobile snack bar.
Many activities are also organised: swimming lessons, aquagym, training, aquadance and others to discover throughout the year on site.
In addition to the leisure and sports facilities, the Aquavaure project also includes an efficient infrastructure to limit energy consumption, with a multi-fuel boiler and ceramic filters.
The architecture was designed by BVL and Madignier architecte *, for a total investment of 12.4 million euros for the local authority, including a subsidy of around 25%.
