How to get to the Ardèche by road

Access via the Rhône Valley

On the way to the Pont d’Arc and its beaches on the banks of the Ardèche, with the option of taking in the replica of the Chauvet 2 Cave along the route.

From the A7, Avignon and the south of France

Take Exit 19 at Bollène, then head towards Bourg-Saint-Andéol / Saint-Remèze / Pont-d’Arc, or via the D290 road – known as the ‘Belvédères’ route – from Saint-Just d’Ardèche:

From the A7 motorway from Lyon and northern France

Take Exit 18 (Montélimar Sud) fromthe A7 motorway, then follow signs for Bourg-Saint-Andéol / Saint-Remèze / Pont d’Arc:

The RD86 or the RN7

From the north

On the RN7 at Pierrelatte in the Drôme, follow signs for Bourg-Saint-Andéol in the Ardèche via the D86, then at Bourg-Saint-Andéol take the D4 towards Saint-Remèze / Pont d’Arc:

From the south

On the RN7 towards Pont-Saint-Esprit, with three possible routes: one in the Gard and two in the Ardèche:

  • At Pont-Saint-Esprit, take the D901 – known as the Route de Barjac – towards Vallon-Pont-d’Arc
  • In Saint-Just d’Ardèche, take the D290 – known as the Route des Belvèdères – towards Pont d’Arc
  • In Bourg-Saint-Andéol, take the D4 towards Saint-Remèze / Pont d’Arc

Access from the Massif Central

Another option, when travelling from the west of France, is the Massif Central and the Cévennes, with Auvergne to the north and Languedoc to the south.

Transport in the Ardèche

To get to the Pont d’Arc by bus, go to the Vallon-Pont-d’Arc coach station, take the E15 or X75 bus, then catch the shuttle bus to the beach and the Combe du Pont d’Arc.
