Located not far from the banks of the Ardèche in the Pont d’Aubenas district, the swimming pool at the Hippocampe aquatic centre welcomes you all year round. Here’s a closer look at the pool, its opening times, activities and other practical information to help you enjoy your swim.
L’Hippocampe aquatic centre
The Hippocampe aquatic centre in the Monts et Vallées d’Ardèche has been based in Aubenas since 2015, and is managed by the Communauté de communes du Bassin d’Aubenas (SEMVA * ). With its two indoor pools, it aims to offer a range of facilities for families, schools and sports enthusiasts all year round.
This indoor facility is open all year round and should not be confused with the municipal swimming pool* in Aubenas town centre, which is only open during the summer months of June and August.
Location and access to Aubenas
The Hippocampe aquatic centre is located at 1 chemin du Coton, 07200 Aubenas. It is located in the Roqua district, not far from the eponymous gymnasium.
Lines 2, 3 and 7 of the Albensian Tout en Bus network provide access by public transport. Car parking is available in and around the swimming pool.
The aquatic centre is accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM): level access, adapted pathways, reserved seating and mobility aids.

Equipment and swimming pools
The Hippocampe aquatic centre in Aubenas has two pools:
- Sports pool: 25 metres long, 1.80 metres deep, 5 lanes.
- Leisure pool: 150 m², depth graded from 0.60 to 1.30 metres with bubble benches and massage jets.
In addition, you will also find :
- Small children’s play area with fountains, mushroom and slide
- Changing rooms, lockers (token or €1 coin), showers, toilets
- Vending machines (hats, glasses, sweets, drinks)
- Men’s and women’s toilets
Management, safety and health
Lifeguards provide supervision. Bathing caps are compulsory, as is showering with soap before swimming. Shorts and swimming trunks are not permitted.
Please note that the pools are evacuated 15 minutes and the last entry 45 minutes before closing time.
Activities and clubs
A swimming club provides sessions for children of all levels and ages. Private lessons are also available. Other activities are offered throughout the year: aquatic fitness classes, training courses, aquatic awareness, etc. Ask at reception during opening hours.
